TSUNAMI RISK IN THE NORTHEAST ATLANTIC

Appendix

It should be noted that the ages of prehistoric tsunamis are calculated using the technique of radiocarbon dating. The radiocarbon timescale, however, is different from the calendar year timescale which, for the Second Storegga Slide, gives an age of circa 8,000 years. In this report reference is made throughout to radiocarbon ages, these being simply described as "years ago".
