UASD Study Period: 28 May 1996
UASD Study Period: 28 May 1996, Summary

CONVECTION for Northward Bz

This period is potentially very interesting for studying convection when Bz is northwards and By has descrete changes of sign. During the period, the Haley HF radar has good coverage. Also, POLAR is well positioned on this night with its ground track travelling north/south through the field of view of the Halley HF radar, over the British and US AGOs and close to South Pole station just before UT midnight on 28 May. The period has been proposed as an ISTP study period.
