The dynasonde system is computer controlled and offers great
flexibility in its operation. Echoes can be recieved from 60 km to 500 km
altitude with a height resolution of about 0.5 kilometres and from up to 500 km
horizontal range with a resolution of about a few 10s km. Doppler velocities are
measured to an accuracy of a few 10s of m/s.
The dynasonde operates continuously with standard ionospheric
soundings from 0.5 to 15MHz every 15 minutes interspersed with
customised soundings designed to meet specific
research goals. ISTP Key Parameters are
automatically derived from each 15-minute ionogram.
