The grid given here was derived from a combination of field data and remotely
sensed data (from Zwally).  The details are given in the draft paper.

There were two datasets of field observations.  Post-1985 published data
compiled by BAS (available here) and Pre-1987 published data compiled by
Zwally and Giovinetto (available from them).  

The data are given in in units of kg m-2 year-1

The coordinate information below is given in projected metres.
