The webcam on RRS Ernest Shackleton is situated in the Conning Tower (see the Virtual Tour for an image of the Conning Tower). It generally looks forward, but if something of particular interest is going on, it may be moved to look aft or to either side. This is a particularly interesting webcam as (when not on long sea passages) the scenery changes regularly. During the Antarctic summer, it is possible to see stunning polar scenery, icebergs and mountains. During the Antarctic winter, the Shackleton undertakes survey work in the North Sea so you may catch a glimpse of an oil or gas platform. It updates approximately once every hour.
