Welcome to the British Antarctic Survey Virtual Tours.
It is a constant source of interest as to how BAS prepares for, travels to and lives in the Antarctic. Unless you are lucky enough to work for a National Antarctic Programme such as BAS, or you can afford to visit the continent as a tourist, it is unlikely that you will ever have the opportunity to see first-hand the beauty of the Antarctic.
However, we can offer the next best thing - a virtual trip "South". The links below will take you from BAS Headquarters in Cambridge, UK down to the Falkland Islands and on to one of the most inhospitable places on planet Earth. Don't worry as you will not be going unprepared! You will be taken to training courses and equipped with suitable polar clothing. Decide whether to fly or to sail, take a tour of the BAS ships and visit the research stations - all without leaving your PC!
