The latest edition ( November 2014 ) of the (External) NERC Research Grants and Fellowships Handbook (External) (Grants awarded on Full Economic Cost basis) is now available.
The Bristol Glaciology Centre, University of Bristol, will be hosting the following two UK meetings in September:
1. The International Glaciological Society British Branch Meeting, 8-9 September 2014 .
2. The UK Antarctic Research Symposium, 11-12 September 2014 .
Registration: Please go to (External) http://www.igsoc.org/about/britishbranch/meetings/bristol2014/ to register and submit your abstract for one or both of the meetings. We invite oral and poster presentations in all areas of glaciology/Antarctic science. Deadline: Registration and abstract submission deadline for both meetings has been extended to 1200 (midday) on Thursday 7th August 2014.

NERC has changed the dates for the ‘December’ standard grant round. The dates have been moved forward to January and the January 2014 closing date will be 21 January at 16:00 GMT. The 2014 call will open and proposals can be submitted on Je-S from 1 September 2013. There are two calls in this round: Standard Grant JAN14 and Standard Grant - NI JAN14 (for a New Investigator). Preliminary requests for Antarctic logistic support
must be received no later than 3 months prior to submission deadline of the intended funding opportunity.
In 2012, NERC Council decided to introduce a new NERC Independent Research Fellowship scheme (IRF) that will replace the previous schemes (Postdoctoral Fellowships and Advanced Fellowships). These five-year awards will '
