Library Holdings

The BAS library has 8,500 books and pamphlets, 18,000 offprints and 330 current periodical titles (some of which are electronic access only).

The reading area of the redesigned BAS Library

Subject coverage comprises geology, geophysics, glaciology, climatology, meteorology, upper atmosphere physics, and marine, terrestrial and freshwater biology, all with the accent on the polar regions.

The library staff can assist with bibliographic enquiries, including use of the in-house database of library holdings. Also available is the CD-ROM Arctic and Antarctic Regions , which comprises the catalogues and databases of various polar libraries and organisations.

Access

Research workers and students are welcome to use the library by prior arrangement. Please note that occasionally the library is unattended so it is important to telephone or email before visiting.
